KLIKANGGARAN - Serunai Commerce Sdn Bhd, The Department of Halal Auditing – Halalan Thoyyiban Studies of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, and ALS Technichem (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, have entered a historic tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to enhance collaboration in developing a Digital Halal Ecosystem in Indonesia.

The MoU signing ceremony was held today at the Gedung Pusat Dakwah Muhammadiyah in Jakarta Pusat represented by Prof. Ir. HM Nadratuzzaman Hosen, Director of The Department of Halal Auditing – Halalan Thoyyiban Studies of the Central Board of Muhammadiyah, Dato’ Dr. Lukman Ibrahim, Group Executive Director of ALS Technichem (Malaysia), and Intan Suriya, the Director of International Partnership & Global Events of Serunai Commerce.

The ceremony was witnessed by Haji Zaid Abdullah, the Chairman of Zaiyadal Group and ALS Technichem (Malaysia), Ir. Rafik Djunaedi, M.Si, the Director of Administration, Finance and Digitalisation of Muhammadiyah Group as well as Ir. Elvina A. Rahayu, MP, the Director of Examination and Domestic and Foreign Cooperation of Muhammadiyah Group.

This ceremony was graced by the presence of Datuk Amer Bukvic, the Director and Resident Representative of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) of Regional Hub Indonesia. His presence underscores the importance of this collaboration as well as in supporting Indonesia's vision of becoming a global leader in the Halal industry.

The MoU marks a strategic alliance aimed at creating a comprehensive Digital Halal Ecosystem, in which The Muhammadiyah Group will implement advanced digital technologies to streamline Halal compliance and certification processes across its institutions by leveraging the expertise and technological capabilities of Serunai Commerce and ALS Technichem. The partnership seeks to elevate Halal standards and practices within Muhammadiyah’s network, aligning with the Indonesian Government’s broader initiative to enhance the nation's Halal industry.

Prof. Ir. HM Nadratuzzaman Hosen said during his speech, “As the largest organisation in Indonesia, Muhammadiyah is actively involved in Islamic activities and public health services. We are now expanding into the economic sector, with a focus on small-scale enterprises and derivative economics from universities and hospitals. Recognising our need for technological expertise, we aim to collaborate with Serunai and ALS in this field.”

In his speech, Haji Zaid stated, "The signing of this agreement between Serunai, ALS, and the Muhammadiyah Group presents an opportunity for us to extend our services in dakwah, education, social, and medical sectors through Muhammadiyah’s institutions and public health services. It is now time to focus on the Halal ecosystem. We aim to launch this initiative in Indonesia, which has the world's largest Muslim population and is recognised as a global leader in Halal. Through this collaboration, we seek to empower Indonesian manufacturers to become producers of Halal products."

Datuk Amer Bukvic said during his speech, “IsDB is committed to aiding member countries in attaining sustainable development and economic growth, particularly through the successful implementation of the Reverse Linkage cooperation in Indonesia, focusing on the Digital Halal Ecosystem. This agreement between Serunai Commerce, the Muhammadiyah Group, and ALS exemplifies our collective dedication to innovation, excellence, and sustainability. I am confident that this collaboration will bring substantial benefits to Indonesia and beyond.”

The MoU signing builds upon the momentum generated by the IsDB Reverse Linkage Project between Indonesia and Malaysia in Digital Halal Ecosystem development, which has established a strong foundation for enhancing Halal infrastructure and capabilities. This new collaboration aims to build on that success, and expand the digital Halal ecosystem in Indonesia, reinforcing the commitment to authenticity, quality, and comprehensive promotion of Halal products.

Verify Halal, a flagship initiative of Serunai Commerce, plays a crucial role in this collaboration. As a robust digital platform, it streamlines Halal certification and verification, ensuring transparency and traceability in the Halal supply chain. By integrating Verify Halal, the partnership aims to enhance Indonesia's Digital Halal Ecosystem, providing real-time, reliable information on Halal products and services, boosting consumer confidence, facilitating business compliance, and supporting a comprehensive Halal assurance framework.

As this partnership progresses, Serunai Commerce, Muhammadiyah, and ALS Technichem will work together in multiple areas which include, knowledge sharing, expertise, and resources.
